Scott Pruett’s frustration eventually subsided.
Colin Braun beat out a man nearly 30 years his senior Saturday to win the pole for the Corona Mexico 200.
Braun, a 19-year-old making his third start on NASCAR’s Nationwide Series, posted a fast lap of 102.756 mph in his Ford to edge 48-year-old Scott Pruett. Defending series champion Carl Edwards was third.
“I’m really proud of that whole team,” Braun said. “We ran through a whole bunch of changes. … Shows how much work those guys have put in.

Adrian Fernandez showed off a piece of paper with his schedule on it, then described his upcoming weekend with a mixture of pride and fatigue.
“Es muy loco,” the Mexican driver said.
The fun was just beginning for Fernandez, who will compete in the American Le Mans Series event in Long Beach, Calif., on Saturday before hustling back for Sunday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Mexico City. He was in his home country Friday - but didn’t have a whole lot of free time.
“It’s crazy but it’s fun.
Sam Hornish Jr. says he’s passing on the Indianapolis 500.
Hornish’s plans were the subject of much speculation after owner Roger Penske entered a No. 77 car in the Indy 500 - and didn’t say who would be driving it. Hornish, a former Indy 500 winner, is in his first NASCAR season after leaving the Indy Racing League.
On Friday, he said it’s not feasible to drive in both the Indy 500 and NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600. Both races are May 25.
