So often tempestuous, Tony Stewart was the picture of perfect calm Friday as he strolled through the garage seemingly without a care.

And why wouldn’t he be at peace? NASCAR’s two-time champion is back on top, soaking up the spotlight not for winning races, but as a highly coveted free agent who has triggered a bidding war that could lure him away from Joe Gibbs Racing.

Bruton Smith believes more speedways will sell their naming rights like his Lowe’s speedway among other NASCAR changes.

Race drivers love going fast and hate slowing down to conserve gas - or worse, hanging back to try to avoid crashes.

That, though, is what some drivers have been doing in races at Talladega Superspeedway, one of only two NASCAR tracks where horsepower-sapping carburetor restrictor plates are used to keep the cars under 200 mph in the interest of safety for drivers and the fans in the grandstands.
