Guitar hero: Keselowski earns 1st career win

Brad Keselowski raced to his first Nationwide Series victory Saturday night, passing Clint Bowyer with six laps to go and easily holding off his closest rivals at Nashville Superspeedway.

Kyle Busch, racing in the second of three NASCAR races in a historic weekend triple, finished 20th, three laps down. A green flag pit stop with 52 laps to go bounced him from the top five to two laps down.

New asphalt the place to be at Pocono Raceway

A new patch of asphalt is all the rage at Pocono Raceway, where drivers hesitantly tested the new surface before determining it’s prime real estate on the 2.5-mile triangle.

The fresh asphalt stretches 3,800 feet and was created after track owner Joseph Mattioli noticed a chunk of asphalt coming loose last August. He walked the path on the track and found baseline cracks in a 15-foot-wide section between Turns 2 and 3, and repaired it by filling the section with a new asphalt.

Pocono under attack on eve of Cup race

Pocono Raceway is officially under attack, and the assault comes as its owners ardently defend its future on the NASCAR schedule.

Bruton Smith, the billionaire owner of Speedway Motorsports Inc., wants desperately to purchase the mountain racetrack from owners Joseph and Rose Mattioli.
